In the process of daily processing of smart UPS repair application, we found that many ups failures are caused by the factors of battery, power supply, use environment and use method, and a considerable part of UPS itself has no failure. If we can find out these factors and judge that it is not the fault phenomenon caused by UPS, we can solve the problem for customers more quickly. According to data analysis, about one third of the repaired UPS cannot work normally due to battery failure. Therefore, we should pay special attention to whether the battery is faulty.



There are several fault phenomena caused by battery problems



1. UPS cannot be started.



Because smart UPS is started by DC, UPS can't be started when the battery is not connected, the battery is low or the battery has problems. There are several similar situations:



The first case: the newly installed UPS cannot be started.



If the UPS is sua1000ich, please check whether the battery plug on the rear panel of UPS is connected. If it is su3000rmi3u, please open the front panel to check whether the battery is connected.



Because the new battery will have self discharge phenomenon in the process of storage, so the battery is in a low power state, UPS can not start. At this time, you need to connect the ups with the battery and the mains. Press the test button on the front panel of the ups. Although the display light on the ups panel will not be on, the ups will charge the battery at this time. After charging for a period of time, press the test key again, and the ups can start to work.



The second case: UPS inverter work for a period of time, UPS can not start.



It's also because the battery is low and needs to be charged.



The third case: the ups can't start after the battery has been used for about 2 years.



According to the usage of most customers, the battery will generally have more or less capacity decline after two years of use. If the battery can not play the role of delay, it needs to be replaced with a new battery.



The fourth case: the voltage of a single battery is normal, but the ups cannot start.



At this time, although the voltage of a single battery is normal, 1. It is likely that there is a problem in the connection between the battery and the battery or between the battery and UPS, for example, the connection point is not firm or the connection point is oxidized. At this time, it is necessary to remove the oxide and connect again. 2. It is possible that the fuse connecting ups and battery is broken. If the fuse is broken, replace it with another one. 3. The connection between ups and battery is very long, very thin or there is a connection point in the middle, so there is a great voltage drop, resulting in the ups can not start.



2. UPS can't work in inverter state after power failure.



Let ups work under the power supply condition, set the multimeter at the voltage level, connect the probe to the Anderson plug on the back of UPS, and directly measure the DC voltage to UPS.



At this time, one person observes the display of the multimeter, and the other person unplugs the input line of the ups to observe the display of the multimeter at the moment of power failure. If the voltage value drops a lot instantly, it indicates that there is something wrong with the battery. If the connection problem can be eliminated, and the battery has been used for about two years, it is necessary to consider replacing the battery pack.



3. UPS inverter time is short, can not meet customer requirements.



First, the battery parameters must be set at the beginning of the installation of smart UPS long delay model. If the battery parameters are not set, the inverter time will be short.



Second, the battery parameters have been set, but the inverter time of UPS is still very short. You can measure the battery voltage when the ups low power alarm. If the measured value shows that the battery is in the low power state, you need to replace the battery. If the measured value shows that the battery is not in a low state of charge, you need to check the charge and discharge. Note that in charge discharge calibration, the battery should be fully charged, and it needs to carry about 50% load when discharging.



Third, the powerchuteplus software is installed, because the default setting of the software is: the computer will be shut down 5 minutes after the power interruption, so you need to modify the parameters in the software



Electricity environment



1. Power grid.



If there is a very serious power supply in the power grid, such as voltage sag, it may cause UPS power failure. Let's list some of them. You can install powerchuteplus software to know whether there is power supply in the power grid through the event records of the software.



If you see a lot of such records in the event record, it indicates that there is a serious problem in your power grid, and this problem will also reduce the service life of the battery. If conditions permit, it is recommended that you replace one line of mains power input or transform the power grid.

2. The input end of UPS is installed with leakage protector.



When the UPS is turned on, it will cause the leakage protector to trip. If you need to install the leakage protector, you need to connect the leakage protector to the output line of the ups.



3. The air switch at the input end of UPS trips.



This phenomenon may be caused by the small capacity of the air switch at the input end of the ups. Because the starting current of the UPS is relatively large, the capacity of the front-end air switch is required to be large enough.



4. UPS inverter status and on-line status change frequently.
